The employment will be a fixed term (3 years), full-time position, which will include both research and teaching activities.
Your work tasks
The position is a further education position that involves research and teaching, with the goal of qualifying for a permanent position as an associate professor within the field of digital learning.
The candidate should demonstrate research on emerging technologies for collaborative learning, including areas such as video-based competence development, digital mediation of learning processes, and the use of new digital tools to support interaction and participation in educational settings. Experience with empirical studies of technology-supported learning practices and an interest in developing innovative approaches to collaborative and practice-oriented learning environments will be considered an advantage.
Teaching
The candidate is expected to deliver quality, research-based teaching and to plan, conduct, and evaluate their own teaching in alignment with course plans and programme learning objectives. The role also involves developing a personal teaching portfolio and completing the university’s pedagogical training programme. Experience with teaching, supervision, and various examination formats is required, including the ability to collaborate with co-examiners and external examiners. In addition, the candidate must be able to assess and continuously develop the quality of their teaching, seek new knowledge where relevant, and work constructively with students in the teaching process.
Research
Appointment as Assistant Professor is contingent upon the candidate presenting a research plan that clearly outlines the direction and further development of the research profile established during the PhD. The position also requires that the candidate contributes actively to research activities within scholarly environments at the local, national, and international levels. Furthermore, the role involves participation in research collaboration and the attainment of experience in leading smaller research projects.

Candidates without documented PBL experience are expected to complete a PBL training course within the first year of employment.
The candidate must have the academic qualifications necessary to conduct teaching, supervision, and examination within the bachelor programme in Communication and Digital Media, the master program Information Science and the master in IT and Learning. The candidate is expected to demonstrate experience, skills, or the potential to produce high quality research outputs and publish in international journals. Applicants should present a personal research plan that aligns with the research strategy of the university and shows clear potential for developing new research projects. The position further requires experience, skills, or potential in building external and/or international networks and collaborations. In addition, candidates should be able to demonstrate experience, skills, or the potential to engage with stakeholders outside academia in ways that enhance the societal impact of research.
Organizational and Academic Leadership
Assistants Professors contribute to a strong and vibrant academic environment. Appointment as an Assistant Professor is based on motivation for, and the ability to, participate in both academic and pedagogical development within the section and the relevant study programmes. Candidates are also expected to show interest in the institute’s academic and collegial forums and committees.
The role requires active engagement in one’s own career development, including the ability to attract external funding and participate in project work. It further requires the ability to reflect critically on one’s own and others’ teaching and related practices within the framework of the pedagogical training for Assistant Professors.
Qualification requirementsAppointment as assistant professor requires academic qualifications at PhD level. The research potential of each applicant will be emphasized in the overall assessment.
Candidates should be able to document experience, skills, or the potential to collaborate effectively with colleagues, participate fully in the daily activities of the section, and contribute to fostering a positive and collegial working environment.
