Fuldmægtig / Forsvaret og Forsvarsministeriets styrelser / NATO / militær / internationale operationer / Fuldtid / Fuldtid
Are you ready to work at the intersection of strategy, planning and operational effect – and apply your experience in an international environment where structures, cultures and processes are still taking shape?
The position offers a high degree of responsibility and a central role in establishing a headquarters that provides advanced operational solutions within the NATO framework.
We believe performance thrives where flexibility and respect for family life are prioritised.
About the Organisation
The Danish Special Operations Command (SOKOM) is establishing the Special Operations Component Command North West (SOCC-NW) at Aalborg Air Base. The headquarters will form part of NATO’s new North-West Region and will be responsible for coordinating and synchronizing special operations in peacetime, crisis and conflict.
You will join the Core Staff Element (SOCC-NW CORE), which carries the regional coordination responsibilities and supports peacetime tasks.
We offer a professional environment defined by expertise, trust and collaboration. You will become part of a multinational team closely connected to both national and international partners.
We believe in empowering people with responsibility, knowing that professionalism and well-being together drive the best outcomes.
- We are solution-oriented
- We are proactive and take a positive, forward-leaning approach to our responsibilities
- We follow a step-by-step learning approach, knowing fundamentals come first.
- We believe in the principles of mission command and act decisively in the commander’s intent
“Cohesion is our strongest asset. We are not just building a headquarters – we are building a culture where trust and professionalism are inseparable in everything we do,” says the Commander of the Special Operations Command, Major General Poul Ebstrup.
We know that life outside of work matters. That’s why we take a flexible approach to working hours and family life – including the option of remote work.
About the Positions
These are newly established positions covering all core staff functions.
You will be part of the operational engine room, where assessments, planning and decisions are consolidated and turned into action.
You will help create cohesion and momentum between the tactical and operational levels. You are expected to work with a high degree of independence, but also to lead processes and collaborate across nations and functional areas.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Participating in the initial project work for establishing the headquarters
- Contributing to operational planning and assessments of NATO SOF contributions
- Developing, validating and advising on directives, concepts and plans
- Supporting development, training and education in peacetime
- In crises, conflicts and operations, coordinating and monitoring Danish and allied SOF deployments
You should expect travel activity both nationally and internationally, as well as participation in relevant staff training and exercises.
We invest in your development through training, mentoring, and NATO collaboration, while promoting a sustainable culture that balances engagement and well-being for lasting success.
About You
We imagine that you are an experienced specialist or staff officer with strong analytical and coordinating skills. You enjoy working with complex tasks and can create structure and overview in multinational contexts.
Ideally, you:
- Hold a relevant higher education degree in areas such as international security, social sciences, organization, project management or similar
- Have experience working with projects, planning or coordination in complex, cross-disciplinary environments
- Demonstrate precise and effective communication skills in English, verbally and in writing.
- Thrive in international cooperation and can work flexibly with colleagues from different cultures and backgrounds
- Demonstrate independence, responsibility and sound judgement in task execution
Experience with special operations forces, international headquarters or similar operational environments is an advantage, but not a requirement. What matters most is your ability to turn knowledge and experience into action and actively contribute to establishing and running a new NATO headquarters.
