Clinical functions and focus areas of the department We offer a high volume of outpatient and surgical gynaecological services, primarily focusing on benign conditions, though we also manage selected malignant cases. Furthermore, our fertility clinic handles a substantial patient flow and provides comprehensive reproductive care.
The urogynaecology unit provides both regional-level services (e.g., TVT procedures, bulking agents) and highly specialized care (e.g., urethral diverticula, vesicovaginal fistulas, mesh-related complications, anal incontinence). This includes receiving complex cases referred from other hospitals.
A key focus area of the department is to support women's health across all ages, integrating clinical practice with research in all aspects of women's health—before, during, and after pregnancy and childbirth, as well as later in life. We are currently establishing an HBOC Center (Hereditary Breast and Ovarian Cancer) for women in the Eastern Denmark region who are suspected or confirmed carriers of risk genes. These patients often require multidisciplinary management during both diagnostic evaluation and treatment.
