We are looking for an experienced Research Coordinator to provide administrative support to the Hansen Group to commence on 1 March 2026, or after agreement. The position is a fixed-term position 5.5 years.
About Us
The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research (CBMR) is an academic research Center that pioneers groundbreaking research towards better cardiometabolic health. Through collaborative interdisciplinary research from single-cell genomics to whole-body systems, CBMR aims to transform the basic understanding of cardiometabolic health and accelerate its translation into prevention and treatment strategies. The Center’s uniquely multi- and interdisciplinary approach combines research in genetics, physiology and pharmacology, to better understand the complex interplay of the many factors that drive cardiometabolic disease. CBMR was established in 2010 at the Faculty of Health & Medical Sciences and has been located in the Maersk Tower at Panum since 2017. The around 260 employees create an international, highly collaborative research environment across disciplines.
Our Research
The Hansen Group investigates the human genome and the human global microbiome to characterize the impact of these genomes on health and disease and to identify interactions between the host and the microbiome. You can read more about the Hansen Group here.
Your job
As Research Coordinator, you will be part of CBMR’s Administration and Research Support Team and will refer to the Head of Administration and Research Support, Helle Hald. Your primary tasks are related to supporting Professor Torben Hansen and his research group. In addition, you will contribute to activities across CBMR in collaboration with colleagues in the Administration and Research Support Team.
The Research Coordinator’s responsibilities include:
- Supporting Professor Torben Hansen in his day-to-day administrative needs, i.e., keeping an overview of finances and staff in the Hansen Group, as well as organizing travels, meetings, guest visits and other events.
- Coordinating the financial and scientific reporting on the grant portfolio of the Hansen Group, including grants from both Danish and international funding bodies.
- Coordinating activities and economic aspects of the PhD program Basic Metabolic Research led by Professor Torben Hansen.
- Collaborate with the University’s legal office on the establishment of legal collaboration agreement for research consortia that the Hansen Group participates in.
- Supporting the Hansen Group in the preparation and administration of grant applications, e.g., collating required documents and keeping track of deadlines.
- Ensuring efficient onboarding and offboarding of staff members in the Hansen Group.
- Supporting the Hansen Group with larger procurement tasks.
- Preparing agendas, taking minutes, developing presentations and other communication material.
- Providing support related to practical assignments to ensure smooth daily operations.
Profile
The ideal candidate should have a meticulous detail-oriented and flexible approach to work, with a positive, problem-solving and service-oriented mindset, combined with strong interpersonal communication skills.
A Research Coordinator candidate should fulfil the following essential criteria:
- Master’s degree (preferrably a PhD degree).
- Experience with research coordination from the university or hospital sector.
- Experience with large projects (e.g. European consortium projects) in coordination, project monitoring and reporting
- Cross-disciplinary understanding of research and finances, operations, and human resources.
- Experience in developing and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external partners and stakeholders.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and preferably also Danish.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and to use sound judgment to handle and prioritize a variety of tasks.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to respond to shifting priorities.
- Proficient user of the Microsoft Office package
Place of employment
The place of employment is at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research, Maersk Tower, University of Copenhagen. You will refer to Head of Administration Helle Hald and be part of a dynamic administrative team of 14 people. We support the core tasks of the Center: research, education, and research communication. We offer creative and stimulating working conditions in a dynamic and international research environment.
Terms of salary and employment
The employment as Research Coordinator (AC-TAP, Special Consultant/Specialkonsulent) is a full-time and fixed-term position for 5.5 years. The starting date is 1 March 2026, or after agreement.
The employment will be in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). The monthly salary will be based on the number of years of work experience (seniority) with the possibility to negotiate a salary supplement based on prior experience and qualifications.
