Associate Professor - International Nutrition & Health at University of Copenhagen
The Department of Nutrition, Exercise and Sports, Unit of Nutrition and Health announces a position as Associate Professor within the research field of international nutrition and health for the period December 1st 2025 – August 31st 2032. The focus of the research is within the field of prevention and treatment of malnutrition among infants and children.
Applicants must have a relevant academic degree e.g. in Human Nutrition, Public Health or a related subject area and have a PhD degree or comparable scientific qualifications. Qualifications within the following scientific areas are required:
- international nutrition, especially related to childhood and infancy
- trial methodology
- assessment of growth and body composition
- assessment of the role of the gut in malnutrition
- effects of milk and plant-based protein on growth
- Experience in managing large trials abroad, for example in Uganda, Kenya and other African countries is not required, but is an advantage
The qualifications of the applicant include scientific publication in the research field; research project management and conduct of intervention trials according to Good Clinical Practice in low-income countries, and experience in international and inter-disciplinary research collaboration.
The Associate Professor’s duties will include research and teaching within International Nutrition and Health.
Applicants are required to have university level teaching experience, documented teaching competencies and must be able to explain and reflect upon own teaching practice and portfolio. Formal pedagogical training or supervision equivalent to the University of Copenhagen teacher training programme for assistant professors is required. Teaching qualifications in relation to trial methodology, including Good Clinical Practice and General Data Protection Regulation are required.
Experience with education management is not required, but it is an advantage.
Duties include the applicant’s own research, development of the field, grant applications, and research management such as supervision and training of research fellows and other staff. The successful applicant must also teach, supervise, prepare and participate in examinations, and fulfill other tasks requested by the Department.
Assessment of applicants will consider their level of documented, original scientific production at an international level, including contributions to developments in their field, as well as their documented teaching qualifications. In addition, managerial and out-reach qualifications of applicants including ability to attract external funding and managing international projects are essential.
