Funding Manager at DTU Skylab - Innovation Hub Specialist

DTU Skylab is looking for an experienced and passionate Funding Manager to join us on our mission to develop Technology for people. You will be responsible for managing the fundraising process for DTU Skylab, including identifying funding opportunities, preparing funding proposals, and managing strategic relationships with funds, partners, and sponsors. You will have a strong track record of fundraising for non-profit organizations, a deep understanding of the fundraising landscape, and excellent communication, relations, and negotiation skills.

Who are we

DTU Skylab is the innovation hub of DTU. We are a vibrant community supporting diverse activities such as curricular courses, company collaborations, and startup support programs. In the 12 years that DTU Skylab has existed, it has become a dynamic innovation hub with 5500 m2 of offices, teaching facilities, workshops, and laboratories.

DTU Skylab is both an innovation environment with startups and company collaborations, and an ambitious learning environment where we train skilled engineers with a desire to make a difference in the world.

Responsibilities

You will work closely with the management team on a strategic level to create a clear scope and a strong financial platform by focusing on securing long-term funding strategically related to our mission and strategy. You will coordinate a small cross-sectional funding team executing the strategy, including scouting for funding opportunities, writing funding proposals, and developing strategic partnerships with relevant actors.

More specifically your tasks will be to

  • Identify funding opportunities and prepare funding proposals for our (new) activities, projects and programmes.
  • Stay updated on new trends, technologies, and startup initiatives
  • Establish and develop strategic partnerships with foundations, partners, investors, incubators, and companies.
  • Coordinate and manage the fundraising process, including negotiating and closing deals.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to Skylab Colleagues on fundraising strategies and tactics.

Requirements:

  • A relevant academic background.
  • At least 5 years of experience in fundraising for non-profit organizations.
  • Strong understanding of the fundraising landscape and experience in preparing funding proposals and negotiating and closing deals.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relations skills.
  • Passion for technology, innovation and entrepreneurship and a desire to support the growth of our Ecosystem to the benefit of society.
  • A great written and verbal communicator , mandatory with excellent communication skills English and preferably a working knowledge of Danish.
  • Ideally experienced within the innovation scene. You have perhaps worked with innovation and entrepreneurship communities before, understand the challenges and speak the language.
  • Self-driven, have a positive attitude and can work alone or as part of a team.

Terms of employment

The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC). 

The position is a full-time position and is to be filled by 1 October 2025.

You will refer to the Head of Operations.

You will be employed at DTU Skylab, and the workplace is DTU Lyngby Campus, Kgs. Lyngby, Denmark.
