General Worker in Supply (Evening shifts)
SUMMARY:
This individual unloads merchandise from incoming freight and move it to the appropriate locations in the production and storage areas. They ensure that all items received are handled in strict adherence to our quality standards and food safety regulations. This individual will operate warehouse equipment, such as a forklift or electric pallet jack, in the safest manner possible. All new employees must undergo an extensive background check before commencing work.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:
- Load, unload, sort, and move shipments by hand or by use of material handling equipment.
- Accurately and safely unload trucks.
- Ensure that all incoming deliveries are received and put away correctly and completely each day.
- Move goods to appropriate storage areas in a safe manner.
- Complete all receiving documentation and quality control in line with company procedures.
- Complete daily quality logs.
- Record and report any discrepancies with shipments to the supply office.
- Regular and timely attendance is a requirement for this position.
- Perform all duties in the safest manner possible.
- Report potential hazards and unsafe work conditions to team lead, lead hand, or manager.
- Have knowledge of hygiene and food safety, and always comply with our food safety rules.
- Attend mandatory training held by the unit’s QHSE Manager.
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:
- Perform regular counts of stored materials.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shipping/loading dock, warehouse, and trash areas.
- Complete the loss log for tracking spoiled or damaged inventory.
- Work closely with the production department to ensure proper stock and inventory of needed materials.
- Ensure all equipment is maintained and inspected according to operating procedures.
- Adhere to shipping policies/procedures and regulatory compliance procedures.
- At times assist and work in other areas if needed.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- No experience required, but any experience in supplying, purchasing, receiving, or inventory is a plus.
- This is an entry-level position, and training for all functions will be provided.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be able to speak, read, and write in English.
- Be able to learn and understand documents such as purchase orders, bills of lading, and shipping orders.
- Must be willing to work every other weekend.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to show flexibility in working in various areas of the department.
- Ability to understand how one’s performance affects those in areas before and after one’s own.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in teams as per needed
- Flexibility to adapt to varying workloads, where not all days will have the same level of demand and the ability to manage tasks accordingly.
- Ability to lift 18 kg.
