Laboratory Technician or Biomedical Laboratory Scientist

Københavns Universitet logoLaborant · København ·

We are looking for a motivated and curious Laboratory Technician/ Biomedical Laboratory Scientist to join the HistoLab within the Rodent Metabolic Phenotyping Platform (RMPP). The expected start date is June 1, 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter.

This position offers an excellent opportunity for a newly educated or early-career technician who would like to develop their skills in histology and contribute to cutting-edge metabolic research in an international research environment.

Our research

The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research (CBMR) is an academic research Center that pioneers groundbreaking research towards better cardiometabolic health. Through collaborative interdisciplinary research CBMR aims to transform the basic understanding of cardiometabolic health and accelerate its translation into prevention and treatment strategies. The Center’s uniquely multi- and interdisciplinary approach combines research in genetics, physiology and pharmacology, to better understand the complex interplay of the many factors that drive cardiometabolic disease. You can learn more in the Executive Summary of CBMR's Strategy 2024–2028.

CBMR was established in 2010 at the Faculty of Health & Medical Sciences and has been located in the Maersk Tower at the Panum building since 2017. The around 260 employees create an international, highly collaborative research environment across disciplines.

The position is based in the Rodent Metabolic Phenotyping Platform (RMPP), which provides advanced phenotyping services to researchers studying metabolism and metabolic diseases. The platform supports a wide range of research projects by performing specialized analyses of rodent tissues and physiological parameters.

Within RMPP, the HistoLab plays a key role in providing high-quality histological analyses, supporting multiple research groups across CBMR and external collaborators. The lab works with a wide range of histological techniques to investigate tissue morphology, cellular signaling, and metabolic processes.

Your job

You will join the HistoLab within RMPP and become part of a small and dedicated team consisting of a research consultant and two laboratory technicians (including this position).

In the HistoLab, we support several research groups across CBMR. You will therefore work closely with PhD students, Postdoctoral researchers, and other scientists who perform histology-based projects in the lab. The position offers a dynamic working environment where you will contribute to multiple research projects and interact with researchers from different scientific backgrounds.

Your tasks will include

As a Laboratory Technician/ Biomedical Laboratory Scientist in our histology lab, you will become part of a collaborative research environment and work with a variety of histological techniques. Your tasks will include:

  • Tissue processing, including paraffin embedding and preparation of frozen sections
  • Performing histological and immunohistochemical staining, as well as in situ hybridization
  • Working with microscopy for evaluation and documentation of samples
  • Performing laboratory analyses and supporting ongoing research projects
  • Participating in the testing, optimization, and implementation of new histological methods
  • Supporting daily laboratory organization (e.g., ordering reagents, shipments, and maintaining sample/material inventories)

You will work closely with researchers and other technicians and will have the opportunity to develop your technical skills and gain hands-on experience with advanced histological methods.
