The Department of Communication, Faculty of Humanities, University of Copenhagen, invites applications for a Research Assistant position in Cognition and Communication. The position starts 1 January 2026 or after agreement and is a fixed-term, 2-year appointment at 30 hours per week.

What You Will Do
Your main responsibilities will be teaching and supervising students in the programme. A smaller part of your time may be devoted to academic development or other tasks.

Spring 2026 & Spring 2027:

  • Teach and examine the course Topics in Cognitive Science and Communication
  • Thesis supervision

Autumn 2026 & Autumn 2027:

  • Teach and examine the seminar Introduction to Cognitive Science
  • Thesis supervision

The exact combination of tasks will be agreed with the programme director.

What We Are Looking For

  • A master’s degree in philosophy or Cognitive Science (required) (a PhD within Philosophy or Cognitive Science is an advantage)
  • Experience with teaching and thesis supervision at university level (an advantage)

Applicants must have qualifications corresponding to master’s level related to the subject area of the project, e.g. [relevant educations]. If you have completed your education in Denmark, you must have a master’s degree covered by the collective agreement for academics in the state sector.

If you have completed your education outside of Denmark, you must either have a master’s degree equivalent to a Danish master’s degree (two years) or as minimum a bachelor’s degree equivalent to a Danish bachelor’s degree (three years) and be assessed as having professional qualifications at master's level.

If you have completed your education outside of Denmark, we will obtain an assessment of your education from the Danish Research Agency.

Recruitment Process
After the application deadline, the Head of Department will consider advice from the appointment committee and select applicants for assessment. All applicants will be notified whether they have been shortlisted. The Head of Department will then set up an expert assessment committee to assess the shortlisted applications. The selected applicants will be informed who is serving on the committee. Each shortlisted applicant will be offered the opportunity to comment on the committee’s assessment before the appointment is announced.

Salary and Terms of Employment
Terms of appointment and salary will be in accordance with an agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC). The salary range for research assistants starts at DKK 27,214,09/approximately EUR 3,640 + an 18.07 % pension contribution. It is possible to negotiate salary supplements on an annual basis.
