Scientific Data Manager/Architect at NIVI Research Center
We are looking for a highly motivated and independent Science Data Manager starting as soon as possible.
Background
The newly established Novo Nordisk Foundation Initiative for Vaccines and Immunity (NIVI) has a unique mission to harness airway immunity through innovative vaccine research and development to prevent airborne epidemics. NIVI has two parts:
- NIVI Research (NIVI-R): A state-of-the-art research center anchored to the University of Copenhagen, Department of Immunology and Microbiology (www.isim.ku.dk).
- NIVI Development (NIVI-D): A company that focuses on translational sciences and advancing vaccine development.
NIVI-R conducts scientific research, whilst NIVI-D oversees manufacturing and clinical trials (phases 1 and 2), ultimately leading to a transition to partners for late stages of development.
By connecting science, innovation, clinical trials, regulatory processes, and product development, NIVI aims to streamline the journey from research to real-world vaccines.
Your job
Your main task is driving the research data management at NIVI and the position is shared between NIVI-R and NIVI-D (80%/20%).
The position requires a high degree of cross-functional collaboration and teamwork, and you will be working closely with the research teams at NIVI-R and the NIVI-D company.
Your tasks will include:
- Developing and maintaining a compliant data strategy and with suitable architecture. Specifically, this will be a centralised server cluster with secure and accessible systems
- Ensure the secure transfer and sharing of certain data between the two entities (NIVI-R and NIVI-D)
- Implement a specific strategic direction for data, security, and IT
- Establish and maintain a database for all data developed by both entities
- Keeping track of all internal data and received data files
- Communicate data storage and sharing policies across the programme
- Management and oversight of control and calibration software
- Develop and operate high-performance, scalable computing systems (HPC and/or distributed compute) that support multiple concurrent users and workloads.
- Implement best practices for data governance, access control, and security, balancing open internal access with compliance, privacy, and operational requirements.
- Develop and manage large-scale data storage solutions, ensuring robustness, performance, data integrity, and long-term sustainability for diverse data types and workloads.
- Collaborate closely with research, engineering, and analytics teams to understand computational and data needs and translate them into robust technical solutions.
- Provide hands-on support and guidance to internal teams in coding, software usage, data workflows, and computational best practices.
We expect
- Master or other relevant education in computer science, computer engineering, statistics, or other relevant education
- 5+ years’ experience with data management and security in a research & development context
- Experience with high-confidentiality data management is preferred
- Strong experience in network storage environment and/or strong experience with LIMS solutions
- Experience from a research environment and proven GDPR handling
- Experience in designing data architecture and large-scale data storage systems
- Experience in HPC or distributed compute environments

Terms of employment
The average weekly working hours are 37 hours per week.
The starting date is as soon as possible.
The employment at NIVI Research Center will be as Special Consultant in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant collective agreement with the possibility to negotiate a salary supplement based on prior experience and qualifications. The employer will pay an additional 18.07 % to your pension fund.
