Scientific Software Architect i Aarhus Universitet, Institut for Datalogi
The Department of Computer Science is hiring a Scientific Software Architect to support the design, development and maintenance of computing and software infrastructure for research, education and outreach. The department is growing rapidly, particularly within Artificial Intelligence (AI), Extended Reality (XR), and Data Visualization, where we need professional support for the development and operation of advanced software systems.
You will join the technical staff at Department of Computer Science. Here, you will meet highly experienced colleagues that develop and maintains hardware and software solutions for research, education, and outreach across the department, as well as for projects in collaboration with the technical staff from the Department of Digital Design and Information Studies at the Faculty of Arts.
Expected start date
This is a full-time, permanent position starting May 1st, 2026.
Your role and responsibilities
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Designing, developing, and maintaining software for research, education, and outreach.
- Maintaining and supporting computational infrastructure for research and teaching (e.g., AI clusters).
- Contributing to defining and applying for interdisciplinary projects with colleagues across faculties.
- Participating in the daily management and coordination of project activities.
- Support communication and dissemination of research through papers, demos, videos, and other media.
Your profile
We expect that you:
- Are an excellent and versatile software developer.
- Hold a Ph.D. or master’s degree in computer science or a related field.
- Have expertise in web-based technologies.
- Have experience developing for extended reality (XR).
- Have experience developing AI- or LLM-based software.
- Have experience with data visualization.
- Are fluent in spoken and written English.
- Thrive in an environment with a high degree of task variety.
- Have strong organizational and time management skills.
It would be an advantage if you:
- Have research experience, including published work in computer science.
- Have experience working in a university environment.
- Have experience with system administration and operations (DevOps).
- Have experience contributing to research proposals or grant applications.

Formalities and salary range
Salary and terms as agreed between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and the Confederation of Professional Unions. Depending on your experience and level of education, the employment will be as senior consultant.
