We are looking for a highly motivated and independent academic employeeto support our efforts in cardiovascular imaging–based translational research, with a particular focus on heart disease in animal modelsto commence 01.05.2026 or soon after.

Our research

The research group conducts translational cardiovascular research with a strong emphasis on advanced cardiac imaging, using animal models to address clinically relevant questions. The group works in an interdisciplinary and collaborative environment, involving cardiologists, imaging specialists, veterinarians, biologist, and engineers, and maintains close collaborations within an international research network. We value teamwork, mutual support, and an inclusive research culture characterized by diversity in background, expertise, gender, and nationality.

Your job

You will join a multi-disciplinary research team working on animal-based cardiovascular research projects, with a particular focus on porcine models.

Your tasks will be the development, optimization, and implementation of cardiac MRI sequences for imaging and acquisition and analysis of cardiac MRI data, and contribution to data interpretation and scientific dissemination.

You will be expected to contribute to and support the ongoing research projects in the group on an ad hoc basis when needed; disseminate your expertise to new lab members and support the lab management.

Profile

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic staff scientist with the following competencies and experience:

Essential experience and skills

  • You have documented experience in cardiac MRI, including advanced 3D imaging, protocol development, independent scan acquisition and post processing, both in humans and pigs.
  • You have an active interest in translational cardiovascular research and the development of imaging techniques for heart disease and advanced image assessment.
  • You have proven ability to execute a research project
  • Good English skills, written and spoken

Desirable experience and skills

  • Experience and knowledge in animal models used in cardiovascular research, particularly porcine models
  • Technology-driven approach to imaging development and sequence optimization
  • Service-minded attitude with experience in supervising, training, and supporting junior researchers

Place of employment

The place of employment is at Department of Biomedical Sciences, University of Copenhagen. We offer creative and stimulating working conditions in dynamic and international research environment. Our research facilities include modern laboratories and state-of-the-art imaging facilities at a university hospital, including advanced cardiac MRI infrastructure and strong technical and scientific support.

Terms of employment

The average weekly working hours are 7,4 hours per week.

The position is a fixed-term position limited to a period of 5 years. The start date is 01.05.2026 or after agreement.

Employment will be in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). The monthly salary will be based on the number of years of work experience (seniority) with the possibility to negotiate a salary supplement based on prior experiences and qualifications. The employer will pay an additional 18.07 % to your pension fund.
