Bioinformatics Student Assistant - Rigshospitalet Genomic Medicine

The Department of Genomic Medicine at Rigshospitalet is hiring a bioinformatics student assistant for 10-15 hours per week to join our bioinformatics group that develops and maintain computational pipelines for the analyses of genomic and transcriptomic information from patients.

The Department of Genomic Medicine holds a combined high-throughput DNA sequencing and bioinformatics platform that offers a wide-range of genomic analyses, including human whole-genome sequencing, to hospitals around Denmark.

In the bioinformatics group, you will help to develop and maintain bioinformatics pipelines that support our analysts and clinicians in translating vast amounts of biological data into clinical decisions. Accordingly, tasks will range from running daily routine analysis workflows to contributing to research tasks. We offer a stimulating environment where medical doctors, biomedical analysts, and bioinformaticians work together to deliver high-quality precision medicine and research.

The Bioinformatics team works in full DevOps and consists of 15 full-time bioinformaticians, 3 student assistants, several projects, Msc students, and PhD students, and all projects are collaborative efforts. There will be the opportunity to combine the position with a master thesis project.

Desired qualifications:

  • Student in a MSc program in bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science, or equivalent, preferably in the last year of studies.
  • Comfortable with Linux-based operating systems
  • Experience with computational programming languages, including bash, R, and Python
  • Experience with standard bioinformatics tools
  • Full professional proficiency in English
  • You like to work in a team and to work in an interdisciplinary environment
  • You are motivated to work with ‘omics data, analysis pipelines, and automation

The application should include short cover letter, Curriculum Vitae, and relevant diplomas.
