Category Manager - Maersk Container Industry (MCI)

At Maersk Container Industry (MCI), we design and manufacture the world’s most energy-efficient reefer containers. Our Star Cool solutions keep global trade moving while reducing environmental impact. Now we are looking for a Category Manager to join our team in Tinglev, Southern Denmark.

Our headquarters is in Tinglev, Southern Denmark, within commuting distance of Sønderborg, Kolding, and Flensburg

Your role

As Category Manager – Star Cool Category Management, you will report to the Head of Category Management Star Cool and be part of a global team with close collaboration across Denmark and China. You will drive strategic initiatives that define supplier relationships and category direction, complemented by hands-on involvement in procurement operations to ensure seamless execution.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Managing assigned categories and supplier portfolios, ensuring performance in quality, cost, delivery, and innovation
  • Carrying out sourcing activities including RFQs, supplier selection, and contract negotiations
  • Ensuring transparency and compliance throughout supplier contracts
  • Creating and implementing category strategies aligned with Star Cool’s business objectives
  • Executing procurement activities such as contract updates, reporting, and maintaining ERP systems with negotiated prices
  • Partnering closely with R&D, Quality, and Supply Chain to enable product and process innovation including participation in NPI projects
  • Preparing and delivering regular performance reports using KPIs and analytics
  • Driving continuous improvements, cost savings, and digital process development
  • Supporting global ramp-up projects with timely, cost-effective solutions

What we are looking for

We are seeking a colleague who combines Category Management expertise with curiosity and drive. Someone who enjoys working with both strategy and daily operations – and who is eager to build and improve processes that make a difference.

You bring:

  • Technical flair, ideally in the areas of electronics, electromechanics and/or refrigeration
  • Experience within category management, procurement, or supply chain in an international setting
  • Skills in supplier negotiations and cross-functional collaboration
  • Knowledge of ERP systems and procurement analytics tools
  • A university degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written)
