CBS Post-Doctoral Fellow in Sociology - ERC Project
This post is funded by the ERC Consolidator project “The Role of Workers’ and Employers’ Bargaining Power in Distributional Workplace Accounts.” This project is led by Professor Tali Kristal at Haifa University and the co-PI at CBS is Associate Professor Lasse Folke Henriksen in the Department of Organization. Henriksen is responsible for the work package on Denmark which will focus on the role of union decline and corporate elite restructuring in redistributional processes within and between workplaces and social groups in Denmark from 1995 to 2025. The broader project also contains case studies on Israel and the US, and the Postdoc will collaborate with other team members working on these cases. Henriksen is based in the Department of Organization and will mentor the Post-Doctoral Fellow. The position is for 24 months, with a starting date on February 1, 2026 or soon thereafter.
The Postdoc Fellow will analyze the evolution of the total income distribution for a large sample of firms in the Danish economy using administrative data and identify the role of social power in the redistribution of income shares among salient social groups (e.g. workers, managers, owners and founders) drawing, for example, on elite network data, union data and measures of institutional embeddedness. The Fellow is expected to produce original research work from this data, delivering historical analysis of income distribution dynamics in Denmark as well as contributing with data and analyses for comparative research papers on Denmark, Israel and the US. Familiarity with statistical methods and social network analysis is prerequisite. The Postdoc will become part of the Organizations, Markets and Governance (OMG) research group at the Department of Organization, CBS.
The Department of Organization (IOA) pursues a problem-oriented, business in society approach to understanding and intervening in organizations and organizational life. Our research is focused upon organizing processes and their outcomes and motivated by an interest in organization and management as a practical, situated, contested and changing matter. Our approach is interdisciplinary and combines social-scientific traditions such as organization theory, sociology, ethnography, political economy, and social psychology. Researchers in our department draw on a range of different research methodologies encompassing qualitative and quantitative techniques.

The Post-Doctoral Fellow is a non-tenured position consists solely of research tasks (100% research).
To fulfill the research requirements of the position, the applicant(s) chosen is expected to be physically present on a regular basis and actively participate in the teaching and research activities of the Department.
The Post-Doctoral Fellow is expected to contribute to the development and application of the research of the department’s research areas and to maintain and strengthen CBS’s international research position.
Qualification
The applicant must hold a PhD or the equivalent. In assessing applications, particular emphasis will be placed on research potential. Emphasis is placed on research relevant to the job description.
The applicant must have professional proficiency in English (written and spoken).

Recruitment procedure
The Recruitment Committee will shortlist a minimum of two applicants, when possible five or more applicants will be shortlisted.
