Scan Con offers jobs at the Shipyards on Reparation and New Build Departments.
Key tasks:
- Reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the layout requirements.
- Measuring, cutting, threading, and bending pipe to required shapes using hacksaw, pipe cutter, hammer and chisel, cutting torch and pipe cutting machine.
- Threads pipe using threading machine.
- Tests piping systems for leaks by increasing pressure in pipes and observing gauges attached to pipes for indication of leaks.
- Selects type and size of pipe and related materials and equipment, such as supports, hangers, and hydraulic cylinders, according to job specifications.
- Securing pipes to the ship and fixtures using brackets, clamps, tools or welding equipment.
- Attach one pipe to another in order to lengthen the run or change the flow direction in a plumbing system.
- Assembles and installs a variety of metal or nonmetal pipes and pipe fittings, using threaded caulked, soldering, brazen, fused, or cemented joints, and hand tools.
- Performs other duties as required.
Skills:
- English - must be able to communicate in English
- Always attentive to detail and alert to ensure safety
- Ability to receive and follow instructions and communicate with co-workers
- Ability to read labels, safety warnings, and guidelines
Experience:
- Experience from shipyards
- Education or professional experience in a given position
