Postdoc in Medical Informatics at Aalborg University

At the Faculty of Medicine, Department of Health Science and Technology, a position as Postdoc in Medical Informatics and Image Analysis Group is open for appointment from November 1, 2025  or soon thereafter. 
The employment will be for a period of 2 years.

At Department of Health Science and Technology we conduct research, teaching, and innovation within engineering, biomedicine, sports science, public health, neuroscience, psychology, and physiotherapy to develop sustainable technological solutions. We offer bachelor’s and master’s degree programs within biomedical engineering, medicine, medicine with industrial specialization, biomedical engineering, sports science, public health, and clinical health and technology. Our graduates contribute to setting the agenda for future needs and solutions for increased public health and implementation of new health knowledge and technologies.

Currently, our department has approximately 230 employees, 70 Ph.D.-students enrolled in the Doctoral School in Medicine, Biomedical Science and Technology, and 1,900 students in our bachelor’s and master’s degree programs. Our facilities are equipped to support state of the art research and teaching.

  1. The candidate is required a clinical background, preferably holding a Master’s degree in Clinical Science and Technology, and a Ph.D. degree related to telemonitoring of diabetes or similar chronic conditions
  2. The candidate is expected to contribute to the planning and execution of the DiaTRUST trial (DOI: 10.1186/s13063-024-08588-7). Therefore, prior experience with clinical trials in the field of telemonitoring of type 2 diabetes is essential, including support of clinical staff and use of wearable devices such as continuous glucose monitors (CGMs), connected insulin pens, and acitivity trackers
  3. The position involves teaching equivalent to 50% of the working time. Teaching responsibilities will primarily involve case supervision for bachelor students in Medicine and Medicine with Industrial Specialization, as well as project supervision for master students in Clinical Science and Technology. As the teaching is primarily conducted in Danish, fluency in Danish is therefore a requirement

The following criteria will apply:

  • To achieve merit at postdoc level, we expect that the candidate has qualifications corresponding to an acquired Ph.D. degree. 
    We expect that the candidate: has published in peer-reviewed journals as the first author of the publication
  • has experience with applying for external funding for projects, equipment, travel costs, etc., possibly as main as main applicant (PI) or co-applicant (co-PI). This will be an advantage
  • is able to conduct teaching, exams, and quality assurance, either independently or under supervision of a senior colleague
  • has experience with presentation of science, e.g., at conferences or in other relevant forums
  • has experience with sharing knowledge through an open science practice. This will be an advantage
  • can work both independently and contribute positively to the teamwork in a research group
  • will be able to contribute to teaching within the department’s bachelor and master programs
