Postdoc of stem cell derived cardiomyocytes and assay development
We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic postdoc for a 2 year position to commence 1 June 2026 or after agreement.
The project focuses on developing assays to increase the understanding of disease mechanisms underlying inherited cardiac arrhythmias. Genetic variants are introduced into Human induced pluripotent stem cell (hiPSC) using CRISPR-cas9. The hiPSC are differentiated into atrial and ventricular lines and used to construct 3D bio-printed Engineered Heart Tissues (EHTs) on Multielectrode Arrays (MEAs).
The aim of this project is to
- Develop 3D-printed scaffolds capable of anchoring bioprinted EHTs within MEA chips.
- Generate an hiPSC-derived cardiomyocytes (hiPSC-CM) carrying the Fam ST dep genetic variant (ST-hiPSC), differentiate them into cardiomyocytes (ST-hiPSC-CM) and perform basic characterization.
- Characterize ST-hiPSC-CMs using 3D bioprinted organoids on MEAs and test the effect of pharmaceutical treatment.
Candidate must have experience with:
- Stem cell technology
- Transcriptomic and proteomic assays
It is considered an advantage if the candidate has experience with:
- Bioinformatics analysis
- Imaging and image analysis
- Microphysiological systems
The postdoc’s duties will include research. The post may also include performance of other duties.
