Researcher in High-Performance Computing Within Environmental Genomics

At the Faculty of Engineering and Science, Department of Chemistry and Bioscience, a position as Researcher in High-Performance Computing Within Environmental Genomics is open for appointment from 1 June 2026 or soon hereafter.
Your work tasks
The Researcher is expected to maintain and develop the high-performance computing infrastructure for the Department of Chemistry and Bioscience at Aalborg University. This includes cluster maintenance, software installation, user management, user support, introductory courses, connection point to ITS and development of future high-performance computing resources at the department.
The position will be anchored in Center for Microbial Communities with approx. 50 scientists at various career levels, working with structure and function of microbial communities, primarily related to environmental microbiology and biotechnology.
Some teaching may be included, primarily in high-performance computing use within microbiology and environmental biotechnology, but also in other study-programs at the University.
Additionally, there will be opportunities to establish and lead your own research activities.
Your CompetenciesThe successful candidate must have documented expertise in large-scale high-performance computing analysis within environmental genomics and experience with systems administration of high-performance computing clusters including SLURM.
Furthermore, the candidate must have excellent oral and written English communication skills and be highly motivated to work in an interdisciplinary research environment.
Qualification requirementsAppointment as researcher requires academic qualifications at PhD level. The research potential of each applicant will be emphasized in the overall assessment.
