Student Assistant - Centre of African Studies, Copenhagen University

About the Centre

The Centre of African Studies (CAS), established in 1984 at Copenhagen University, is a vibrant hub for research, teaching and networking within the Scandinavian, European and global African Studies environment. It offers a two-year Masters in African Studies, which is a fully internationalized degree run in English, with students from across the globe. As a student assistant you will be in charge of the Secretariat and assist with tasks related to communication, organizing seminars and ad hoc administrative and practical tasks.

We expect you to:

  • Be fluent in written and oral English and Danish
  • Have strong skills within verbal and visual communication
  • Be able to take on ad hoc tasks and occasionally work under pressure in a busy work environment
  • Be able to relate to a diverse range of people in an international environment
  • Preferably be interested in the focus of the Centre

Preferably be able to

  • Have completed at least two years of your bachelor degree or more and have at least one year left of your studies including masters studies
  • Have some administrative and/or organizational experience

Work tasks include:

  • Communication about seminars and other activities of the Centre
  • Social media communication of the Centre
  • Preparation of Newsletter
  • Assistance with travel expense settlements and payments
  • E-mail correspondence
  • Ad hoc administrative and practical tasks

Working hours and salary:

Working hours are 7½ hours per week distributed on two workdays. The working hours are flexible and adaptable to the student’s study activities and activities at the Centre.

Your salary is determined in accordance with the rules on remuneration for students as set out in the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and HK/STAT and will be minimum DKK 141,14 per hour (1 April 2025 level)

To be considered for the position, you must be enrolled and active as a student at university level.
